I think a lot of folks' concern is that the new management is creating holes, like releasing Grant. Burleson got WAY overpaid IMO, so I don't really blame management for letting him get away.
2 years younger (Hasselbeck was 25). And he didn't spend 4 years as a third stringer. He was on the practice squad and then backed up Favre.
My point is that trading for Hasselbeck was a largely unpopular move and a pretty big gamble that turned out to be a good move. Give this one some...
Haha. I love reading all this. Anyone remember a guy named Matt Hasselbeck? Almost identical situation when we traded for him. I am not guaranteeing Whitehurst will turn into a Hasselbeck, but you also cannot guarantee that he will not.
Our back up ILB is better than any LB you have on your roster - maybe even better than 9 of 11 of your defensive starters. It is understandable. You are trying to under value him, and we may over value him. Whatever the case, I seriously doubt he would be traded.

Yep.
I'm not quite sure what to think of this. I guess wait and see, but my thought is you don't deal like this for a career back up...
I would like to see a simple table of the issues and each side's stance on them.
Here are the issues I hear most about:
1. Salary Cap. I think what had been in place was a great compromise. There is a salary cap, but there is also a salary floor. I'd be surprised if owners gave in on this...
Both of my picks were so far down (Patriots and Vikings) that I don't know anything about those players. I basically read up on what the team's needs were, then looking at the prospect ratings on CBS Sports and selected based on that...
There will still be a draft:

I think all the underclassmen are turning out for the draft because there is no rookie salary cap. If a new deal gets put into place, there is a decent enough chance of a cap being in place.
I remember watching this video around the 2006 draft and getting stoked for Tapp. Too bad he did not consistently play at this level in the pros.
