Sorry, but I gotta disagree with you on this one. Having a guy who's had no proven success at GM, and an overrated, worthless piece of garbage as offensive coordinator doesn't exactly qualify as a dream team to me.
Forsett is nothing better than an average RB, but he's the best RB on our team. I have no idea why anyone would want Jones as our starter at this point.
Sure it'd be nice to have Granderson, but you have to look at what we would have to give up to get him. At this point, the M's don't exactly have a huge stockpile of good prospects and we don't need any more outfielders. Basically, we'd be sacrificing depth at another position to get a guy we...
Ackley's best value is in LF so why would you want him as an infielder? Plus we have Saunders, whose cheaper and isn't a whole lot worse than Granderson. Trading young, cheap players for a guy we don't really need, who's going to get $24 million over the next 3 years, isn't a good move for us...
There's no need for us to trade for Granderson with Ackley only being probably a year away from being our starting LF. I'm fine with Jackson but sending extras players to Detroit for a year of Granderson is stupid.
A lot of people have been talking about the idea of going to a 3-4 defense now that Hawthorne has become a monster filling in for Tatupu. Well, it sounds like Ruskell and the Seahawks may actually be considering that idea. In the midseason report on Seahwks.com, Ruskell seemed surprisingly...
Bringing him back for 1 year at 8.4 million would have been stupid, but I'm more than OK having him for 2 years at 5 million per year, especially now that Hardy isn't an option. The dude is still a black hole in the lineup though.
The Yankees signed Nick Swisher because he can produce and contribute to winning. He just happens to be a laid back, funny dude as well. The Mariners are signing Griffey solely for the purpose of "clubhouse chemistry", knowing full well that he isn't going to contribute all that much. There's...
"Why would the Yankees need clubhouse appeal? They're the Yankees...Their history attracts players."
That's exactly my point. They don't need "good chemistry" because they've actually won something. Winning solves everything, focusing on good clubhouse chemistry gets you 4 playoff appearances...
Well, the 2009 attendance was lower than the miserable 2008 season, so I guess he didn't help all the much.
The chemistry argument is probably the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. You want to know what makes it a happy clubhouse, makes free agents want to come here, and increases...
Then he should retire and come back as our hitting/tickling coach. Giving a roster spot to a part time DH who's 40 and bats .214 isn't going to get us to the World Series.
I love Griffey just as much as anyone, but I'm a Mariner fan first, Griffey fan second. This move doesn't make any...
