Arizona Cardinals (5-3, 1-1 1st-NFC West) at Seattle Seahawks (3-5, 1-2 3rd-NFC West)
Stadium: University of Phoenix Stadium
Announcers: FOX Dick Stockton (play-by-play) and Charles Davis (color commentator)
Last Meeting: Cardinals won 27-3 in Seattle in Week 6 as the Seahawks headed into the Bye Week.
Analysis:
The Seahawks could pick up some ground on the West and get some momentum as they take on first-place Arizona. Seattle will be passing after Matt Hasselbeck had his first 300-plus passing yard game as he passed over 50 times against the Lions. Nate Burleson and TJ Houshmandzadeh will have their hands full if that keeps up which according to Jim Mora will. Julius Jones also had a productive day piling up 36-yards on the ground with one touchdown and having six receptions for 78-yards. If the Seahawks offense can do battle with the Cardinals and get the offense going with a healthy Hasselbeck the Seahawks might be able to make it closer than the first meeting in Seattle.
Defensively the play of David Hawthorne has been the talk of Seattle, but in order to be successful this week the Seahawks need to apply pressure on Kurt Warner. Unlike the first meeting the Seahawks have Marcus Trufant who will have his hands full with Larry Fitzgerald. Seattle hasn’t had the sacks they’ve had in the past, but part of that has to do with the lack of blitzes. That might change though this weekend as the Seahawks know they need to keep the Cardinals on their toes offensively.
Prediction: The Seahawks still can’t seem to play consistent football. That will be a problem as they take on first-place Cardinals, but have yet to win a game on the road and that will continue as they drop 27-21.
