I agree completely. The whole notion that he is a running QB is a joke. He runs to extend plays, but will throw it away many more times than he takes off. He's also always looking down field.

This year you're going to see more of our receivers breaking off routes when Wilson breaks the pocket because I've seen coverages just implode once they think he'll run...then he lobs it to the open WR.

You can't duplicate what Russell does and it's almost impossible to know what he'll do based on how the play develops.

And a little tip doubters...he's getting better.

His clock is ticking until he's really clocked out of that pocket.:sneaky:

.

Harbaugh called that "playground football" in the week leading up to the regular season matchup in SF. He said they had to stop that stuff and to their credit, they did a decent job of it in that particular matchup. In the title game, they had the deep throw to Baldwin after Wilson broke from the pocket and bought time and engaged in exactly what Harbaugh was talking about. Baldwin didn't break back toward Wilson on that particular play like the WRs often do but instead drifted beyond the coverage and just let the DBs underestimate Wilson's superior arm and throwing distance. But Wilson's mobility bought him about an extra 4-5 seconds to let it develop, which is an eternity in the NFL. And after breaking from the pocket he never stopped looking downfield, which is the difference between him and someone like Kap.
There's still a lot of debate on whether Wilson is an elite QB or a "game manager". You and I both know the answer to that one. But at the very least, no one can deny that Wilson does that type of thing better than any other QB in the league. Harbaugh learned the hard way that identifying that fact and knowing it is only half the battle. Stopping it is another matter and is far easier said than done.

With your O line its going to be a blitz crazy year for Wilson. Hasselbeck bought extra time too but never had WRs worth a crap but still wouldn't call him elite. Wilson is a game manager since he's not expected to carry the offense. Beast mode has carried your offense. Even your defense has carried your offense. The only thing Wilson does superior is scramble out of the pocket for positive yards, which while keeps drives alive also risks his remaining on the field. The only elite QB I can think of that did it well for a long time was Tarkenton.

And what kind of QB is Bradford? Oh now I remember; he's an elite QB who manages the game from his stretcher.

Call and categorize Wilson anything you want because in the end, he's a winner. Hell...our backup QB's are better than anyone you have on that team at the moment. Sit back and watch us "manage" another ring lambie.

Emote all you want by slinging the red herring that is the Rams sorry state at QB but it achieves nothing. The topic at hand is Wilson. Mechanically Bradford was superior to Wilson in every aspect at QB which is why he was so highly sought after in the draft. Durability obviously is where Wilson is superior to Bradford. Apparently winning the ring isn't enough since you need Wilson to be called "elite"? Sorry but super bowls have been won with non elite QBs before and if the Seahawks repeat this year then it will be so again. Nothing to be upset with having a game manager at QB as long as the team wins that is if you can leave your vanity out of it.

Mechanically? Seriously? I guess you haven't watched enough of him or you'd know he's not only mobile but his mechanics are far superior to Bradford. Just watch Jon Gruden fawn all over him during the 2012 draft. Yes Bradford WAS sought after, but most times those sought after end up being busts at QB. I can't even explain how wrong you are about Wilson, but why bother. Game manager...lol. Whatever....

Being considered elite doesn't mean shit if you can't win the big game. Wilson's done it with raw young receivers who are getting better every year. They can call him whatever they want...I could care less.

So just sit back and watch the show in 2014.

I see you're still stuck on stupid. Sorry but 'stupid' doesn't count in the discussion. Lynch did not carry the offense last year by the way. But I don't want to confuse you with the facts so I won't waste time destroying all your other non-factual BS, which would be just TOO easy to do. You're not even an interesting trash talker.

Approximate stats for Wilson against the Bears projected over a full game:
25-32, 340 yards, 6 TDs (4 passing, 2 rushing), 40 rushing yards, 140 QB rating. But that's just one of countless examples you're unaware of. You're so far gone you don't even know what a game manager is.

Another emoting poster. "destroying". Sigh. I'm not trash talking. I'm talking facts. You're impressed with preseason stats? Thats weak. Extrapolate Bradford's numbers from last season over an entire season and see how Wilson compares. I'm not arguing Bradford is elite either. But if Bradford isn't neither is Wilson.

Gruden? Chucky? Mr. QB expert is he? Please you "care" or you wouldn't have soaked your keyboard with 'Wilson is an elite QB tears'! Perhaps this season he puts up numbers worthy of elite status. Until he does….he isn't. No question he's a playmaker and game manager.

Oh yes, numbers QB's are all the rage. They are usually watching the Super Bowl or losing it.

You act like I compared Wilson to Dilfer which I would never do. There is a range of QBs relating to skill both physical and mental. The very best I would call elite. Wilson isn't asked to do as much. Should that change this season and his numbers reflect that then he would be knocking on the door if not a foot inside the door. Peyton Manning is unquestionably an elite QB. Eli Manning is not. No matter how many rings Eli has he's not elite.

Comparing Wilson and his skillset and particularly in the context of mobility to Hasselbeck just shows how colossally clueless you are. Hasselbeck wasn't even a scrambler. But like I said, I don't want to confuse you with the facts. You seem highly resistant to that.
And Eli is what I would consider a situational elite QB. Most times he's not elite but he's elite when it counts and has outperformed every other QB in the years they made Super Bowl runs. So technically, he is indeed an elite QB. He's a better playoff QB than his brother too. So in other words, if he's still in it by the 2nd round, I'm putting all my money on Eli. So Eli being elite or non-elite is irrelevant to whether non-elite QBs can or can't win Super Bowls. Non-elite QBs tend to be one -hit wonders and never win it more than once. Eli's won it twice and all that matters is that it required elite play from him both times to get it done.

Bradford has never been and will never be as good as Wilson. I don't remember Bradford being that sought after, just shows teams make allot of mistakes with those high draft picks and he was one of them.

No one ever argued whether a QB needed to be elite to win a super bowl. Review this thread 'O "colossally clueless" one. Hasselbeck was definitely a scrambler. Outside the pocket is scrambling. He bought time with his legs. He would scramble in a circular pattern. Not as many positive yards as Wilson but a scrambler nonetheless. That is a fact.

"Situational elite"? You mean making a good play? How about all the BONEHEADED plays he makes? Can't use elite when describing a QB like Eli. He's definitely a winner though few QBs get so fortunate as having a pass caught by someone never looking at the ball.;) And in that situation of all things.:whistling: Thats "elite"?

We definitely disagree about the definition of an elite QB. A QB can be elite and never win a super bowl IMO.

Of course a Heisman winning QB isn't "that sought after". What was I thinking?:roflmao:

Lambie...that's "more dangerous". Game managers don't get more dangerous sucka! So shut your pie hole!

Never heard elite in that puff piece. Sure noticed the 18th ranked OFFENSE though. 4th ranked rushing. How about that passing?:p:laugh:

God I hate dumb people. Like I said, whether Eli was elite or not is irrelevant. He was elite in the playoffs during the years they won Super Bowls and he OUTPLAYED ALL OTHER QBs in the playoffs those years. That's what I mean by a situational elite QB. If you can't grasp that concept then that's your problem. "One elite play"? No. More like an entire playoff run via the wildcard route of elite plays. You evidently had your head up your ass while that was going on and missed it. So to reiterate the point: regardless of if Eli is an elite QB or not, he played like one in both Super Bowl wins, which is what's required.
And no, Hasselbeck was not a scrambler. He only had marginal at best mobility. I would know, because I watched every single game he played here in Seattle. You didn't. End of discussion.
