Looks like Kevin Hobbs changed his jersey from 32 to 38 so James can have his number.

Looks good in 32.
I think that number taps into some all time famous seahawk RB history doesnt it?
Just going off of memory here, but wasnt that:
32- Ricky Waters?
32- Curt Warner?

I know that Kevin Hobb's new number happens to belong to one of the best Seahawks players...Mack Strong.

Bob when I did a petition on retiring Cortez Kennedy's number I actually e-mailed Paul Allen and got a reply. In it he stated "in order for a Seahawks number to retire he must be in the Hall of Fame for consideration. We value the Wall of Fame more valuable than a retired jersey." So for Strong it might be a Wall of Fame Induction some night. I'm not sure when Holmy gets in, but I think it would be nice to do Walter Jones, Mack Strong, Hasselbeck, Alexander and Holmy in the Wall of Fame together. Some of our most important pieces in our Super Bowl run in 05.

They didn't have to retire it, they just had to keep players from being able to use it. :D

No worries...At least you didn't say number 13! ;)

Speaking of numbers, I've noticed an odd trend of receivers with QB numbers. Is this an NFL thing or a team-by-team thing? I thought certain positions were allowed only certain ranges of numbers.

Here is a snipit from Wikipedia about NFL Uniform #'s:

Prior to 2004, wide receivers were allowed to only wear numbers 80–89.[54] The NFL changed the rule that year to allow wide receivers to wear numbers 10–19 to allow for the increased number of players at wide receiver and tight end coming into the league.

And so now dude's are asking for those #'s, like Butler. Originally it was designed for WR who did not have a 80-89 available to them, but now seems to be a trend.

WRs typically only want 81, 82, 83, 84, 85, and 87. So, if those are taken they'd like to use 10, 11, 12, 15 and 17.

to me 18 seems to be the most common number under 80.

Yeah, 18 and 19 are also used by WRs.

Thanks for the explanation! Still gets confusing tho; I know of more than one QB numbered 18 and 19.
Then again, with some receivers throwing passes now, it's understandable!
