I'd say a big gulp of "koolaide." :( I'm hoping as much as anyone else these moves work out. I'm thinking the $3 million in cap space we saved* is nothing compared to what Matt brought for the past 10 years. Think about that. 10 years without having to worry about the QB position. There...
I guess this means we are fans of Minn offense, we took their QB, WR and OC. It got them within a game of the super bowl... other than the playoffs, our offense was lousy last season (rushing was 31st), so it can't get much worse....
I do like this guy too, from what I've seen. Unfortunately...
The longer the lockout goes, the more Matt has the edge. Whitehurst, a new OC, a new playbook, and new offensive lineman? That has a recipe for 1-15. Matt has been there, done that, and is ready to go. Better hope Arizona doesn't sign him.... LOL
I can see Kolb and Young as a replacement for Matt, but only because they are younger. I still give Matt a leg up on both for experience and knowledge. I.would also say that Matt played his best at the end of the year. I think that's the best indicator for next season.
The more time Whitehurst can back up Hasselbeck and learn, the better. Matt is our guy and the FO has maintained their desire to sign him. Whitehurst needs time to grow. Palmer is unavailable since he's retired. Kolb is too expensive and unproven. I can't think of anyone else "as good or...
Any talk of salary now is impossible... we have no idea what the cap is, what the rookies will cost, etc. I'll say this though, I think 10 million would be cheap to keep Matt away from Arizona or SF.
As afar as Krieg being bad after he left Seattle? Not so fast my friend.
1992 Krieg went 10-6 with a 79.9 rating. He beat Seattle both times he played them and they went to the Playoffs that year.
1993 Krieg saw less action, but started 5 games (3-2) and a rating of 81.4. 1994 in Detroit...
For more fun with stats, in the decade which followed Krieg, only Warren Moon has a higher QB rating than Krieg's final year in Seattle over at least 10 games. Dilfer and Friesz also managed higher ratings, but over fewer games.
The first year that occurred? 1996 for Friesz, 1997 for Moon...
