    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

I totally get your point about not being able to make them completely equal in terms of factors people cannot control, such as the thickness of the atmosphere. It is what it is. But field dimensions are within control. I am not sure I follow the early on there was not room to standardize...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

Your dimensions don't mean anything to me. Same as the two Yankees stadiums. Identical measurements at certain points, but that does not tell me what the fences are like in between those points. And of course you can make all the dimensions every ball park. Especially as new ones were built...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

But you do what you can to eliminate the variables you can control. That's my point. And as teams have built new parks, to not make them standardized is stupid. I think Sabremetrics uses a lot of algebra, trigonometry, and algebra-based physics. I still did not see any derivatives, limits...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

But the average fan doesn't care about OPS+. Nor should they. If you take away more variables, there would less need to come up with things like OPS+. And I looked up a bunch of Sabremetrics formulas and those are not calculus. And I looked up the Yankee Stadium thing and the conclusion...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

But it is much closer to being equally balanced and then you just have to worry about weather type phenomena, like any other sport that plays outside. And while there may be some sort of "advanced" statistical analysis (advanced in quotations because, let's face it, it isn't exactly calculus...

    Help - Visiting Seattle

I have done the opposite: flown from Seattle to London for a few days. It is doable, but figure a day each way for travel (I think direct flight time is around 9 hours and then you have to account for time zone changes). We only had a couple of days in London before heading off to Paris and we...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

Standard field size and design of the overall park do not have to be linked. And regardless, I would not expect a standard field size to make the game more or less exciting - it will still be boring to me. My thought is more around how it basically invalidates any stat associated with...

    Why Aren't Baseball Fields Standardized?

Why are different fields different sizes? Why is there not a standard size? This seems absurd to me. It would be like the Seahawks having a 120 yard field with the 60 yard line being midfield. Yet another reason why baseball is dumb.

    Flynn or Wilson ?

I think it is pretty long. If he wins the starting job, I think, unless he really tanks, it is his for at least this year.

    Flynn or Wilson ?

Sounds like Flynn is doing better than the other two in the OTAs. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/seahawks/2018281722_hawk25.html

    Flynn or Wilson ?

Yeah I can't help but think it is Flynn.

    Seahawks Declined Hard Knocks

Schneider on PFT Live said Hard Knocks asked if they would be possibly interested and both he and PC said thanks, but no thanks. Most of the rest of the interview is pretty meh, things that we as 'Hawks fans already know...

    Seahawks Select Bruce Irvin, DE

    Good article on Irvin: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/dennis_dillon/05/17/bruce.irvin.seahawks/index.html?sct=nfl_t11_a0

Nice Pic of Irvin and Wilson

He probably has to release higher since he is shorter. I wonder what real impact that has?

    QB competition

And to be fair, I was never super anti-Moore, I just said later rounds, 4-7 and, since we, at the time, did not have a 4th rounder, that meant 5-7.

    QB competition

You're just mad because they took Wilson over Moore . Which I would be too, if I cared about Boise St. or Moore, but I do not.
