    Walter Thurmond signs with Giants

I think that might have had as much to do with the Hawks not retaining him as the off field issues. Maxwell and Jeremy Lane made Thurmond expendable and it was unlikely he would have won the starting job back. So he had little incentive to return to the Hawks on a one year deal so he took the...

    Tate signs with Lions

Some of us saw it coming way back in '11 when they went 7-9 after their second consecutive offseason where they hit it out of the park and operated well above the NFL curve. All for the same reasons that they will continue to compete for championships for the foreseeable future. Were you on...

    Tate signs with Lions

You mentioned a premium position, which is why I considered him as a core player. You want to let a top 5 LT walk? The Hawks would be seriously compromising themselves if they let that happen, unless they can find another cheap alternative. You can't fake it at that position. As you probably...

    Tate signs with Lions

Call it luck if you want. They've been doing it consistently since Pete and John got here. But now all of a sudden, since they won the Super Bowl, it's all gonna stop. They will be unable to keep their own house in order and they will fail at finding an influx of talent. The Super Bowl is a...

    Tate signs with Lions

What applies more when it comes to assessing the Seahawks and what they have been doing under Pete and John, the history of the NFL over the last 10 or so years or the recent history of the team itself over the last 4? "Oh, this Seahawk team is going down. That's the way of things in the NFL...

    Tate signs with Lions

Jim Moore pretty much nailed it... "Along the lines of the discontent with Tate's contract in Detroit goes the notion this week that the Seahawks are losing irreplaceable players to other poaching teams. Fan favorites like Tate, Red Bryant and Breno Giacomini and others are taking deals with...

    Tate signs with Lions

Sweep the division? Something they failed at last year? Ok, so based on your logic, in order to get to the Super Bowl they have to first sweep their own division. By your own admission they "failed" at that last year. I guess no one gave you the memo that they won the Super Bowl anyway...

    Tate signs with Lions

I remember you recently mentioned that the dismantling has already begun. You notice out of those 9 players listed as core players, ALL of them are still here and will remain with the team for one more full season. So like I was saying before, even if you're right about the fall of the...

    Miller restructures deal

Good news. We already got our "joker" TE in Willson so retaining Miller is much more beneficial than acquiring Jermichael Finley.

    Tate signs with Lions

Not all will stay. Most will through. The reason Tate walked is because that was a choice the Seahawks made. They could have retained him had they wanted. Recent free agent signings indicate that not only have the Hawks been adept at talent eval on draft day but they've been applying it in...

    Tate signs with Lions

I agree. But how often does that happen throughout the league? It's pretty rare that a player will play out his entire contract. They all become vulnerable to getting cut once the guaranteed money's been paid out.

I'd expand that list to include Wagner, Okung and KJ. I'd now include Byron Maxwell too. Maxwell could develop into an elite DB and he's heading in that direction. Exciting young talent.

    Tate signs with Lions

"But I didn’t feel like I was going to be taken care of. If you just look back at the things that have happened the last few years. They signed Chris Clemons two or three years ago and released him this week. They signed Red Bryant two or three years ago and released him this week. They released...

Almost forgot about Matthews. Hope he's got something.

    Tate signs with Lions

Ironically that's exactly what troubles me about losing Tate. The Hawks have a kind of WR by committee thing going on where no one really stands out. But it was because of guys like Tate and Baldwin that the "next man up" thing worked. The Hawks shouldn't have much trouble replacing Tate's...

    Tate signs with Lions

Most of the playmakers are on the defensive side. If this was indeed a result of the Harvin signing, then the Harvin signing becomes a bad move on the part of the Hawks. Their skillsets are somewhat similar in their versatility. Harvin's a little faster and more dynamic but Tate is tougher...

    Tate signs with Lions

Contrary to some on here I think this is a pretty significant loss. I saw Tate as one of the core guys along with Wilson, Sherman, Wagner, KJ, Kam, ET, Okung and maybe Unger and Byron Maxwell. Those are the 'retain at all costs' guys. Maybe Tate can be replaced in the draft, I don't know...

    Tate signs with Lions

I don't really understand why this happened the way it did. Did the Seahawks tell him straight up they wouldn't match Detroit's offer? As quickly as he bailed it's almost like he couldn't wait to get out of here.

Report: Seahawks will dump Red Bryant

That's nuts. I had no idea some were even thinking that. I think he made $5.5 this last year under the 1 year deal and that was only because the market for DEs was pretty much dead. Then after the kind of season he had with the Hawks, people actually believed he'd be worth even less?
