Then why did we? That's my point we shouldn't have done this without seeing. I mean Billy Volek was ahead of him on the depth chart. I'm not saying this deal won't work out. I hope it does, but in all honesty we have a right to criticize and ask ourselves "Why this deal?"
Here's something I read and found interesting on Rotoworld. If Norv Turner is as knowledgeable at the QB level as people think why is all they wanted was a 3rd-round for him? If he was any better Norv would have wanted more and they wanted something in return if someone signed him. Therefore...
According to reports his contract would be $10 over 2-years. If this is true I don't think he's being brought in to be a back-up or jersey on the sidelines. Either he's going to start and Matt is back-up or he's starting and Matt is let go. I don't see them making this deal for a back-up.
John Clayton is reporting a deal is being finalized in which we would acquire:
Chargers 2010 2nd-round pick
QB Charlie Whitehurst
Chargers acquire:
Seahawks 2010 2nd-round pick
Seahawks 2011 3rd-round pick.
This has been confirmed by Liz Mathews as well.
John Clayton is reporting on ESPN 710 the two sides are finalizing a deal that will send Whitehurst to Seattle.
Deal is reported to go like this:
We receive:
Chargers 2nd-round pick in 2010
QB Charlie Whitehurst
Chargers receive:
Seahawks 2nd-round pick in 2010
Seahawks 3rd-round pick in 2011
Touched on it in the Talkin' Hawks section. Basically a Special Teamer I'm guessing. With Laury in New York Thursday and Friday looks like we're trying to replace him. Former 2nd-round pick out of San Diego State by the Eagles. has played for the Saints and Bucs has 99 career tackles and two...
McCoy a former second-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles out of San Diego State. He's played for the Eagles, Saints and Bucs in his six-year career. He's had a career total of 99 tackles and two sacks. Might be the beginning of adding depth for the 3-4 Defense and replacing of Lance Laury...
Well just when we thought Tapp was in the Seahawks future plans they trade him- to the Eagles for a fourth-round pick even though Jay Glazer is reporting it's an undisclosed pick and DE Chris Clemons. Clemons is a seven-year veteran whose played in Philadelphia, Oakland and Washington. He has...
It's a 3rd-round tender not a 4th-round.:
Charlie Whitehurst
"It's hard to believe that any team would surrender a third-round pick to sign the unproven fourth-year QB to an offer sheet."
I think Tapp was never given a true opportunity. He had a lot of potential, but then they spent big bucks on Kerney and a first-round pick in Lawrence Jackson. After that he was never given a chance. I think you guys are picking up a good player with a lot of heart. He's a class act guy that...
