Population:
Seattle: 3.3 Million
Phoenix: 3.5 Million

Winner:
PHX: That town is growing, if you went for Spring Training in Peoria when it first opened, Peoria was on the edge of the desert..Now it's just another suburb that's a good distance away from the "end" of town. It's the #6 Largest Metro in the USA and rising fast. We are #13 and rising but not that fast.

Name:
Seattle: Named after a local Indian Chief.
Phoenix: Named because it grew out of the ruins of the ancient Hohokam Indian's former home. Lord Darrell Duppa said "The City rose of the ashes like a Phoenix" hence, the name which stuck.

Winner:
PHX, Harry Potter would be proud of this Phoenix...

Nickname:
Seattle: The Emerald City
Phoenix: The Valley of the Sun

Winner:
PHX: For those who sit in the crappy rain for the whole winter and hear Dave Niehaus on the radio in Spring Training talking about 80 degree temps, high skies, and sun shine...You'll understand why I pick this one..

City Motto:
Seattle: The Goodwill City (named after the 1990 Goodwill Games)
Phoenix: Living Like it Matters!

Winner:
Seattle, Phoenix's motto should really be----"Yeah, but it's a DRY heat"...

Stadium:
Seattle: Qwest Field (67,000)
Phoenix: University of Phoenix Stadium (63,000 expands to 74,000)

Winner:
PHX....That stadium has real grass, hosts BCS games, has hosted a Superbowl, WILL host a Final Four, and looks amazing. Shoulda done Qwest like that with a retractable roof no FFs or SBs in Seattle....Only thing bad about their stadium is the name.

Team Name:
Seattle: Named for Osprey in a "Name the Team Contest"
Phoenix: Named for the colors they wore "Cardinal Red", later took the bird of the same name as a logo.

Winner:
Seattle: A Cardinal is just a red parakeet...

Franchise Origin:
Seattle: Expansion Team in 1976
Phoenix: Started in 1898 at the Morgan Athletic Club in Chicago.

Winner:
PHX, the Cardinals are the oldest team in NFL History, not the Pack or Bears but the Arizona Cardinals!

Franchise Stops:
Seattle: Seattle
Phoenix: Racine, Illinois, Chicago, St. Louis

Winner:
Seattle, we are STABLE.

Greatest Players:
Seattle: Steve Largent, Cortez Kennedy, David Krieg
Phoenix: Ernie Nevers, Jim Hart, Paddy Driscoll, Larry Wilson, Dan Dierdorf

Winner:
PHX, Nevers alone would've clinched it....

Famous Locals:
Seattle: Glenn Beck, Tuba Man, Judy Collins, Bill Gates, Kenny G
Phoenix: Alice Cooper, Jennie Garth, Barry Goldwater

Winner:
Seattle: We produced the Internet...They produced neo-cons (even though I'm one..lol)

Championships:
Seattle: 2, 1979 Supersonics (NBA), 1917 Metropolitans (Stanley Cup)
Phoenix: 1, 2001 Arizona Diamondback (World Series)

Winner:
Seattle: Though none of our Championship teams exist anymore..

Teams:
Seattle: 3, MLB Mariners, NFL Seahawks, Sounders FC (MLS)
Phoenix: 4, MLB Arizona Diamondbacks, NHL Coyotes, NFL Arizona Cardinals, NBA Suns

Winner:
Phoenix: They got all four majors with an arena or stadium for each, but not for long...Say "Hello" to the Hamilton Coyotes in 2010...

Famous Fans:
Seattle: Sarah Palin, Deadlist Catch Fishermen, Pearl Jam, Chevy Chase.
Phoenix: Vince Vaughn, Alice Cooper

Winner:
Phoenix: Because Vince is "so money and he doesn't even know it".

Average Commute:
Seattle: 23.8 minutes
Phoenix: 24.9 minutes

Winner:
NEITHER: Commutes suck!

Famous area Attractions:
Seattle: Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, San Juan Islands, Pacific Ocean.
Phoenix: Grand Canyon, Northen Mexico, the Deserts.

Winner:
Seattle: "Daddy, we drove all this way to look at a big hole in the ground?"

Major Companies:
Seattle: Boeing, Microsoft, Starbucks
Phoenix: Dial Soap (VIAD), Pet Smart, U-HAUL

Winner:
Seattle: Old Spice named Phoenix "America's Sweatiest City", looks like Dial Soap being so close is a blessing...

Tallest Building:
Seattle: Columbia Center 937 Feet (76 Stories)
Phoenix: Chase Tower 483 Feet (40 Stories)

Winner:
Seattle: Phoenix is going to build a 500 foot building by 2012 as condos, but that's it for height.

NFL Chapmpionships:
Seattle: 0
Phoenix: 2 (1925--Shoulda been the Pottsville Maroons, and 1947..Both were in Chicago)

Winner:
Phoenix: Even if it's in Chicago, they've got a title and we don't..Since 1947 they've won exactly ONE playoff game (1998) and have been to the playoffs a total of 5 times....Define "Bad Franchise"..

Final Score:
Phoenix: 10
Seattle: 7
Ties: 1

Enjoy the game!
