With just one game remaining in the 2011 season attention will be placed squarely on personnel moves and the draft.

If the season were over today, the Seahawks would hold the 14th overall pick in each round of the 2012 NFL Draft to be held next April.

Of course that could change as picks 9-11 are currently occupied by teams with 6-9 records and the and the final pick (22nd overall) among non-playoff teams is currently an 8-7 record. The Seahawks won't get a pick any higher than 10th or lower than 19th no matter what happens next week.

ESPN has a breakdown of the current draft order.

-ESPN's Todd McShay has released his first mock of the 2012 draft and he has the Seahawks selecting Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones.

McShay writes that the Seahawks are "in clear need of a quarterback". What some members of the national media might not realize is that Pete Carroll and John Schneider feel that's up for debate.

The Seahawks just may not draft a QB high. Carroll has commented quite a bit this year that Tarvaris Jackson is the guy and that he believes in his abilities. That and Matt Barkley isn't coming out until 2013.

-NFLDraftCountdown.com also has the Seahawks selecting Oklahoma QB Landry Jones, albeit at the No. 12 overall position.

-Over at CBSSports.com the Seahawks are projected to take Quinton Coples, a defensive end out of North Carolina who some have projeted will go as has as Top 5.

Another mock at CBSSports.com (and a few other analysts predict the Seahawks will take Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill). Projecting Tannehill in the blue and green next season probably has more to do with the fact that he looks to be a serviceable pro quarterback who might actually still be there when the Seahawks pick and not because of any special attribute which might attract the Seahawks to Tannehill in the middle of the first-round.

-About a month ago there was some speculation that Baylor QB Robert Griffin III would be a fit and available to the Seahawks. Two things happened: The Seahawks went out and won 5 out of 6 games and Griffin won the Heisman. He's projected to go higher and the Seahawks will have a lower pick.

-Don't be surprised if the Seahawks don't again spend high picks on offensive linemen. While James Carpenter, John Moffitt and Russell Okung are expected to make full recoveries, depth and ability continued to be an issue even when they were healthy.

-Over at Seahawks Draft Blog, Alabama defensive end Courtney Upshaw is projected to be the Seahawks first-round selection.

-Danny O'Neil of the Seattle Times said in an online Chat Tuesday the he believes Tarvaris Jackson will be the starter Week 1 2012 , but that the team will somehow bring in another QB. O'Neil also commented that when John Schneider wants to keep something a secret he usually does alluding to the mystery behind the Seahawks intentions at the QB position.

In general it appears that those who are in the know and familiar with the Seahawks believe the team wants to add a pass rusher with a high pick in next year's draft. And those on the outside looking in are sure the Seahawks will draft in the first-round. Of course if Carroll and Schneider's brief history is any indication they will surprise everyone.
