Don Hasselbeck the father of Seahawks QB Matt and current ESPN NFL analyst Tim Hasselbeck has donated his brain for research when he dies. Don estimates that he had over 20 concussions when he was a player in the NFL and that they can study the brain from the impact of an NFL player.
He said the reasoning behind it has been of the growing suicides and deaths of former players in the NFL due to head trauma.
He's not the first retired player or NFL player to do so. Matt Birk, Zach Thomas, Sean Morey and Mike Hayes also have made their brains available for research once they pass away.
