Several former coaches for the Seahawks have landed new jobs, including Jim Zorn.

The franchise’s original quarterback, who then coached the position for the Seahawks from 2001-07, was hired today to be the Kansas City Chiefs’ QB coach. Zorn was the QB coach with the Baltimore Ravens last season following a two-year stint as head coach of the Washington Redskins.

“As a former head coach with more than two decades of experience playing and coaching the quarterback position in the NFL, Jim has a tremendous working knowledge of the game, and he will play a big role in the continued development of our football team,” Chiefs coach Todd Haley said in announcing the hiring.

In Cleveland, Browns first-year coach Pat Shurmur completed his staff on Monday by adding former Seahawks defensive coordinator Ray Rhodes as a senior defensive assistant and Chris Beake as an offensive assistant. Rhodes was with the Seahawks from 2003-07, first as defensive coordinator and then as a special projects coach. Beake was with the Seahawks in 2008-09. The Browns also made Keith Gilbertson a senior offensive assistant. Gilbertson was with the Seahawks in 1996-98 and again from 2005-2008 in a variety of coaching roles – everything from defensive assistant to wide receivers coach.

“With our coaching staff now complete, I’m excited about the group that we have been able to assemble,” Shurmur said in a press release that was included in this story from the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I believe we have a blend of coaches with a tremendous amount of experience who have proven to be excellent teachers throughout the course of their careers.”

Earlier, former Seahawks offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski was hired by the Atlanta Falcons to coach their quarterbacks. Bratkowski was with the Seahawks from 1992-1998, first as wide receivers coach and then as the offensive coordinator. He spent the past 10 seasons as offensive coordinator with the Cincinnati Bengals.

“Obviously to coach a quarterback like Matt Ryan and be on a quality staff in the NFL is very attractive,” Bratkowski told the Atlanta Journal Constitution in this blog post.
